In light of the tremendous outcome of our recent election, we would like to dedicate this blog post to taking action and be being the change that we would like to see. Now more than ever, we need to be extremely mindful of not just our forests and wild life, but also our natural resources. We need to be proponents of social good and community wellbeing. Our small business has been shaped by our love of traditional making practices coinciding in harmony with nature. Making a beautiful pair of hand crafted shoes doesn’t have to violate our natural resources or disenfranchise artisans in the developing world. While our shoes do have a carbon footprint, we want to be more transparent and keep striving to further offset our impact. Together, we can invest in cleaner production practices, in our environment, and our communities.
Currently, we’re strive to be mindful and conscious of the environmental impact of our shoe production. All our the textiles are produced in age old traditional practices. Our textiles are hand-spun, naturally dyed with seasonal dyes, and handwoven. Our materials are purchase from a family of small leather producers who still, to this day, practices traditional leather treatment processes. While this is more costly for us, we recognize that the cattle industry is a major contributor to CO2 emissions and we need to be supporting alternative practices in the leather industry.
With all this being said, we would like to officially pledge to donate 5% of our revenue in this upcoming year, 2017, to causes that benefit our planet and marginalized communities. We want to donate to causes that protect our wildlife and our forests and that foster solidarity and access in communities both in the United States and in Peru. In the words of Martin Luther King Jr.,

We hope you’ll join us in our action to do what is right. Please support us and ethical fashion.
